My suggestion is to start with getting educated onthe subject. There are a couple of courses listed in the Classified Section under Education. These are a good start.

That's pretty much it, definately education. And if possible, work with an experienced appraiser. The appraisal process is the same, with some exceptions, that can be learned in classes and via the yellow book.

Look under What's Hot on this site. The IRWA has just posted a lot of good stuff that will help understand how to get started.

I posted about my interest in working with eminent domain appraising a long time ago. You guys were very encouraging and I really appreciated it. I have been working toward my goal since my original post. I continued learning trend analysis, excel and gnumerics programs. I recently joined the Appraisal Institute as an Associate Member and I am taking the Appraisal Institute's "Condemnation Appraising - Principles and Applications" class in Pittsburgh at the end of the month. If any of the group will be there, I would love to meet up with you.
So my question is - Whats next? After I have taken and passed the AI course, what type of education should I pursue? Would the class be enough to start trying to find an experienced appraiser to work under?

Thanks!
